When a woman likes a tall guy, she thinks how nice it would be to have him by her side all the time, pushing away nasty glances of other men and advances of creeps can easily be swept aside. This calls for a breath of fresh air and of course makes every woman feel safe and sound. On more than one occasion I have heard comments from my friends and strangers that they feel women who are 5"11 or taller are intimidating simply due to their height. Hey, some guys like tall skinny girls, some guys like short curvery girls etc. Give me a nice, petite, 5-5'5" woman that I can hold in my arms, please. (think "wolverine") Generally I'm lighter in the summer when I run more but I have ZERO height requirements. I like curves, love cute gals with intelligence a bit of sass but underlying kindness. They may be beautiful, smart, and kind..their height is what scares men off... You have that and I will ask you out if I'm single if you are 5'0 or 6'4 etc.
Some are stout, some are lean, some are short while some are tall.

I went bald by age 21...few women would date me....until I met a gorgeous brunette who stood about 5'10, 8 years older and was smart, kind..that and a bag of chips....(inch and 1/2 taller than me) and we got married. There is a girl or two at my work that (if I were single) I'd date in a heartbeat and they are anywhere from 5'10 to 6'0. Obviously that's not a concrete rule, and as this topic has shown some men are OK with -or even prefer- taller women, but that "primal" logic certainly applies to me.
