This section provides basic instructions on using the Ports Collection to install or remove software.

The detailed description of available make targets and environment variables is available in ports. As of mid 2012, the Free BSD Ports Project has migrated revision control systems from CVS to Subversion.

Portsnap is a fast and user-friendly tool for retrieving the Ports Collection, the preferred choice for most users.

Registering installation for py27-pyasn1-0.1.9 as automatic [myjail_jl] Installing py27-pyasn1-0.1.9...

tried using two different commands: # cd /usr/ports/multimedia/plexmediaserver/ && make install clean --or-- (using portmaster) # portmaster multimedia/plexmediaserver Either way, it tries to pull down 0.9.8.4.125.

I've scanned the forums to see if anyone else has run into this... Saw feld has pushed a new version to ports, and I went to and they're reporting 0.9.8.18.290..that's the case, what am I doing wrong? Please disable "Verbose" logging When logs (server or client app) are requested for an investigation, please do NOT turn on "verbose" logging unless it is explicitly requested.

The preferred method for obtaining and maintaining the ports tree is Portsnap.

Users requiring local customization of ports (that is, maintaining additional local patches) will probably prefer to use Subversion directly.

  1. Just because we have technology to find connections for us doesn't mean there aren't any in the real world waiting for us. My mother missed her original flight, gets on the next flight, sits next to my father and 29 years later, here I am today.
